La gramática inglesa no es complicada comparada con otras idiomas, pero aún así, hay que aprender los tiempos verbales y otros elementos básicos.
Nos centramos hoy en el uso de dos tiempos:
el Past Continuous and Past Simple.
§ A menudo usamos el Past Continuous and Past Simple juntos con el fin de establecer la escena ( Pasado Continuo) y decir lo que pasó ( pasado simple ) …
§ Empezamos con el Past Continuous para describir la escena:
| Past Continuous:She was walking on the beach. |
| Past Continuous: the children were playing |
The children were playing…
Los niños estaban jugando …
§ Usamos el Past Simple para describir la acción o interrupción.
… she saw a boat … vio un barco.
… it started to rain… comenzó a llover.
| Past simple: She saw a boat. |
§ Podemos junto los dos elementos con While…
While she was walking on the beach, she saw a boat.
Mientras ella estaba caminando en la playa, vio un barco.
While the children were playing, it started to rain.
Mientras los niños jugaban, empezó a llover.
§ O con When…
She was walking on the beach when she saw a boat.
Ella estaba caminando en la playa cuando vio a un barco.
The children were playing when it started to rain.
Los niños estaban jugando cuando empezó a llover.
| Past simple: The storm began. |
§ No utilice while y when en la misma frase. Utilice una palabra o la otra:
While we were having dinner when the storm began.
Mientras estábamos cenando, comenzó la tormenta .
We were having dinner when the storm began.
Estábamos cenando cuando comenzó la tormenta.
