Gramática y Vocabulario – 3 temas
Tenemos hoy tres temas de la gramática y vocabulario en inglés que responden a algunas preguntas que nos han hecho últimamente nuestros estudiantes.
ONE
PREPOSICIONES CON LAS FECHAS
on Friday = el día de la semana
on the 4th of September = estamos hablando de un día
on my birthday = otro día
in March = el mes
in 2016 = el año
in spring = la estación del año
at Christmas = en Navidad
on Chrtistmas day = es un día
at the weekend = in Britain
on the weekend = in the USA
TWO
INSTEAD OF
Instead of = en vez de
Instead of buying a new car, I’m painting the old one.
En vez de comprar un coche nuevo, voy a pintar el viejo.
Nota que después de instead of se usa la forma ing del verbo o un sustantivo. Sin más, así de sencillo.
Más ejemplos:
Instead of coffee, let’s have tea.
En vez de café, vamos a tomar té.
Instead of asking me, why don’t you try to do it yourself?
En vez de preguntarme a mí, ¿por qué no lo haces tú mismo?
THREE
EL NEGATIVO DEL INFINITIVO
“TO BE OR NOT TO BE”
Recuerda que el negativo de un verbo infinitivo TO + Verbo es NOT TO + Verbo. Es fácil mantener esto en mente si piensas en “TO BE OR NOT TO BE”.
I prefer to go.
Prefiero ir.
I prefer not to go.
Prefiero no ir.
Es como: decide to y try to
We decided not to buy the house.
Decidimos no comprar la casa.
She tried not to smoke more than 2 cigarettes a day.
Intentaba no fumar más de 2 cigarrillos al día.
